Gerry Lee Gass, age 73 of Cowan, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Sewanee on October 28, 1948, to the late Jesse Lee and JoAnn (Beene) Gass. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Before his retirement, he had been employed at E and B Carpet Mill and at Franklin County Hospital as an electrician, Robert E. Lee School as a custodian, and part-time as police officer for Cowan. Gerry had been a minister at Midway Church of Christ, Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, and Boulevard Church of Christ before retiring from the ministry after twenty-four years. He had coached his son in Little League, Babe Ruth, and Pee Wee football. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the mountain and shooting his pistol, woodworking, and watching westerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald Henry Gass, and Mose Gass. Gerry is survived by his wife of fifty years, Diane Gass; children, Jessica (O’Ryan) Anderson, and Kelly Gass; grandson, Kimber Michael Gass; aunts and uncles, Pearline Burks, Charlie (Marlene) Gass, and Robin (Geraldine) Gass; nieces, Brandi Speck and Olivia Gass; and great nephew, Jesse Speck. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Ronnie Ray and Dan Jones officiating. Interment will be at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.
