John Charles Penny, 75, of Rockingham, North Carolina passed away February 23, 2022 at his home. He was born December 15, 1946 in New London, Connecticut, a son of the late John Thomas and Doris Charles Penny. Mr. Penny was a sergeant in the United States Army during Vietnam War and retired from CSX Railroad. He was preceded in death by his wife Lema Smith Penny in 2021; brother Sonny Guyette; and sister Pauline Labelle. Survived by his sons, Richie Penny and wife Kelly of Alabama, Chris Penny and wife Sandi of Kentucky and Andy Penny of Tennessee; brother, Tommy Penny; grandchildren, Brandi Everett, Amber Penny, C.J. Penny, and Victoria McCarter; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2021 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
