Carole Haug Slupe, 88, of Huntsville passed away suddenly on March 14, 2022 as a result of cardiac complications. Carole was a loving member of her community and especially active in The Dwelling Place church.

Carole was born on January 29, 1934 in Butler, Pennsylvania to Ivy Walders Haug and Edward Charles Haug and lived in Huntsville, Alabama for almost 60 years.

In 1956, Carole married Frank Lester Slupe, Jr. They went on to have three children – Patty, Frank and Bob. Carole enjoyed 55 years of marriage with her loving husband, treasuring the time they spent with their nine grandchildren.

Carole, Grandma or “Ninny” as she was affectionately known by her grandkids, was joyful and generous. She was known for her love of Christ and a favorite phrase, “you can’t beat fun.” Carole blessed everyone she knew with her unshakeable faith, her energetic and fun-loving spirit, her sense of humor, and her sense of style. She always loved finding a good deal and spending time with her family — especially at the beach!

Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her daughter, Patricia Ivy Slupe Holter, her sister, Patricia Haug Appleton and her brother, George (Buddy) Slupe. She is survived by her two sons, Frank III (Denise) of Vestavia, AL and Bob (Karen) of Atlanta, GA and her brother, Edward (Skip) Haug (Brenda) of Chicora, Pennsylvania. Carole is also survived by her loving grandchildren – Lisa Holter, Christopher Holter, Ross Holter, Caroline Slupe Boswell (Will), Abigail Slupe, Olivia Slupe, Lauren Slupe, Christian Slupe and Preston Slupe.

A memorial service for Carole will be held on Friday, March 18th, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m., at The Dwelling Place church, 2550 Redstone Road SW, Huntsville, AL.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to The Dwelling Place church.
