Hayward S. Carter was born on October 5, 1950 in Demopolis, Alabama to parents Harrison and Rosie (Wilson) Carter. He was the oldest of six children. In the early afternoon of February 18, 2022 in his home he fell asleep in death after a short illness.

Hayward was united in holy matrimony to Pauline Carter. He was also preceded in death by his parents Rosie (Wilson) Carter, Demopolis,AL, Harrison Carter, sister Shirley (Isadore) James, of Demopolis Al.

Survivors include Harrison Carter, Pennsylvania, Eugene (Eddy) Carter, Demopolis, AL, Jeffery (Stephanie) Carter, Harvest AL, Brenda (John), Florida, Derrick ( Cynthia) Carter, Demopolis, AL Zachary Carter Birmingham, AL.

At an early age, Hayward moved to New Jersey where he had a vast amount of job opportunities. However, his career flourished once he began at Merck & Co Incorporated in New Jersey where he discovered his passion for cooking and received a certification through a chef educational program. Years later, he transferred with the company to Albany, Ga where he worked for over thirty years to finish his career as a Chemical Operator until his retirement. He enjoyed a host of activities that included: fishing, spiritual studies, playing cards, singing and dancing, and most of all family gatherings. Hayward was especially known for his joy of barbeque grilling for his friends and family. Most of all he loved his family and always worked hard to provide for them.

Hayward leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Pauline Carter, three children, Lance L. Carter, Rosie D. Carter, (preceded in death Tara S. Carter) and five grandchildren, Banisha Curry (Michael), Malicah L. Carter, Mejiah M. Johnson, Nazir Carter, Naszhere Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall.
