Eddy Charles Payne, age 80 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Vanderbilt-Harton Medical Center in Tullahoma. He was born in Franklin County on August 27, 1941 to the late Jefferson Charles “J.C.” and Emma Cornelia (Brassfield) Payne. Eddy was a row-cropper and raised livestock. He enjoyed hunting, traveling anywhere from down the road to the Shenandoah Valley, California, and watching westerns. He will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit and his wonderful personality….Eddy truly never met a stranger. He was of the Church of Christ faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Wilson Payne; and son-in-law, Jimmy Burch. Eddy is survived by his loving children, David (Cindy) Payne of Decherd, Jackie Burch of Estill Springs, Connie (Clarence) Rogers of Manchester, and Shawn Payne of Decherd; grandchildren, Keith (Kelly) Payne, Kassie (Ryan) Holley, Kaitlyn (Rhett) Smith, Kelly Payne, Ethan Burch, Lee Burch, Allen (Erin) Morris, LaShawn Rogers (Charlie Johnson), Justin (Nikki) Rogers, Aubrey Payne, Avery Payne, and Ralphy Navas; great-grandchildren, Sekrit, Haddon, Houston, Rye, Emma, Corbin, Madelyn, and C. J.; and siblings, Cornelia (Ron) Spencer of Lynchburg, Diane (Larry) Matlock of Tullahoma, and Gloria Doan (Glen) of Winchester. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 14, 2022 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Jim Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Plains Cemetery with Allen Morris, Keith Payne, Justin Rogers, Lee Burch, Brooks Doan, Scotty Morrison, Rhett Smith, and Ralphy Navas serving as pallbearers and Corbin Morris, Haddon Payne, Clarence Rogers, and Ethan Burch serving as honorary pallbearers.
