Mark Farrel Clifton Sr, age 76, of Winchester passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Vanderbilt-Harton Regional Medical Center. Mark was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on October 19, 1945, to the late Willie Dickson and Rossie Thelma (Cannon) Clifton. Before his retirement, he was employed as a teacher by the Franklin County Board of Education. Mark was a classically trained musician and vocalist, and he taught music and singing lessons for many years. He was a long-time member of Winchester Lions Club and served as District Chairman, Council Chairman for the State of Tennessee, and Chairman of the Board and State Representative for the World Services for the Blind in Little Rock, Arkansas. He served as Trustee for both the Franklin County Public Library and the Stones River Regional Library Boards. He had also served as a District Committee Member for the Boy Scouts of America, a coach for the Franklin County Youth Soccer League, as well as coach of Franklin County High School’s Cross-Country team. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Paul Clifton and Roderick O’Neal Clifton. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Freda Annette (Grizzell) Clifton of Winchester: children, Mark Farrel (Kelly) Clifton Jr of McMinnville, and Brent Sloane (Elizabeth) Clifton of Spring, Texas; sister, Martha (Edward) Roland of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Hannah (Bobby) Brown, Mark Farrel Clifton III, Celeste Laurel Clifton, Layla Jean Clifton, Jonah Esaiah Clifton, Ezra Sloane Clifton, and Naomi Estelle Clifton. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 19, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Kenneth Grizzell officiating. Graveside Services will follow at 1:30 PM at Old Salem Cemetery in McMinnville.
