Mrs. Leathel Patterson Griffin, 97, of Anderson, Ala., passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the Limestone Health Facility. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 8, at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens, Ala. at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in the Mitchell Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffin was an LPN, working at ECM Hospital for 27 years in Labor and Delivery, a job she dearly loved. She was a longtime member of Anderson Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Griffin; parents, Thomas and Meady McCartney Patterson; brothers, Velpo, Melvin, Franklin, Johnnie, Macon and Reeder Patterson; sisters, Vona Cates, Lena Belue, Mildred Corum and Delilah Patterson.
Survivors are daughter, Wynell Whitehead and husband, James Bruce Whitehead, of Anderson, Ala.; granddaughters, Karen Cantrell and husband, Billy Ray Cantrell, of Anderson, Ala., Kathy Ezell, of Anderson, Ala.; great-granddaughters, Kerri McKelvey and husband, Kenny, of Vestavia Hills, Ala., Erin Cantrell, of Lebanon, Tenn.; great-great-granddaughters, Zara and Xanthe McKelvey; sister-in-law, Ruby Griffin, of Rogersville, Ala.; numerous nieces; and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Farrell Patterson, Dearl Belue, Lannie Belue, Hoyt Stewart, Pat Patterson and Gary Belue.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Hurn, Thomas Cates, Sherall Belue and Aaron Belue.
