William Leonest Benefield, 81 of Huntsville passed away on February 2, 2013 surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 17, 1931 in Haleyville, AL. He was medically discharged from the United States Army and went on to spend 32 years at NASA as an analyst with the Space and Rocket Program.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 6-9 pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held on Tuesday at 2pm. Brother Thomas Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Terri) Benefield and Keith (Ellen) Benefield; daughters, Pamela (David) Cruse and Debbie Wilson; brothers, James R. Benefield, Abraham (Shirley) Benefield, Lee Beneifield, Durrell (Faye) Benefield and Paul (Daphne) Benefield; sisters, Vernia Stricklin and Truby (Sam) Thomas; he was Paw Paw to 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Benefield; Parents, James and Bethany Benefield and grandson, Billy Westbrook.
