Nolen Moses Smith, age 74 of Arley, entered into rest on February 2, 2013 at Walker Baptist Hospital in Jasper surrounded by his family.
He was born March 12, 1938 to Elton Jesse Smith and Mozelle Cowden Smith in Arley. He was a member of Arley Congregational Church for 40 years, where he served as Deacon.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 6-8pm at Arley Congregational Church, where services will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at 11am. Reverends Bobby Smith and Robert Partridge will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Avelyn Johnson Smith; sons, Marty Smith, Bobby Smith and his wife Teresa; sisters, Gayla Price and her husband Clarence, Charlene Elliott and her husband Billy; he was Papaw to 4 grandchildren, Caleb (Whitney) Smith, Megan Smith, Derek Smith, Jaimie Smith; and 1 great granddaughter, Raylee Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elton Jesse Smith; mother, Mozelle Cowden Watts; brothers, Dolphus “Doc” Smith, Dennis Watts and LaRay Watts.
