Mae Adell Yates Bell Mae Adell Yates Bell passed away peacefully Monday January 24, 2022 in the late evening surrounded by her daughters. After enduring a short battle with cancer, she transitioned quietly and peacefully at UAB Palliative Care Suites in Birmingham, Alabama.

Born Mae Adell Yates on May 4, 1928 to parents Sarah Icedo Sims Yates and James LaFayette Yates of Nauvoo, Alabama. She attended Carbon Hill High School and graduated in 1947. Soon thereafter married Alfred Wesley Bell, not long home from World War II where he served in the US Army and fought in Belgium, France and Germany which included the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, the Ardennes region of Belgium.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sarah Icedo Sims Yates and James LaFayette Yates, her husband Alfred and daughter Sarah Katherine (Kathy) Bell Freeman.

She is survived by her daughters; Nancy Bell Cadenhead Trucks (Michael) and Sharon Bell all of Birmingham, Al., Denise Bell Wheeler (Wayne) Lexington, VA., Rhonda Bell Lankard (Brian) of Cumming, GA., Son in law Rhodney Lyle Freeman of Jasper, AL and stepson Hollis Bell of Haleyville, AL.

She also leaves behind her loving granddaughters; Andrea (Andi) Katherine Freeman Graham (Jeff) Mountain Brook , AL., Elizabeth Rice Beasley (Evan) Inverness, AL., Sarah Miller (Brandon Gill) Birmingham, AL., Madelyn (Maddie) Wheeler of Staunton, VA, Amanda Katherine Lankard (Chris Hodges) of Inverness, AL. Also Melanie Bell Martin (Troy) of Natural Bridge, AL. And Michael Warren Bell (Sherrie) Lynn, AL. Three great granddaughters Sarah Katherine Pate Graham, Emily Adell Beasley and Abigail Etta Beasley.

She loved her community of Lupton and Jasper where she had many friends and neighbors. She loved God, flowers, gardening, cooking, reading, travel and her beloved beach which she traveled to many times . She had a gift of making everyone she met in this life know they were important to her. She had a gentle hand and a loving spirit . She will be missed by all who knew her .

Visitation with the family will be at Collins Burke Thursday February 3 from 6:00-8:00 PM with services in the Chapel Friday, February 4 at 2:00 PM with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
