
Jamari Demone Jones
DECATUR-On Sunday, January 9 Decatur Police answered a call in the 300 block of Monroe Drive NW. Upon their arrival the DPD found Jamaal Jackson injured by a gunshot wound on Sunday night. Before he could be taken to hospital Jackson died from his injuries.
After investigation it was determined that Jamari Demone Jones, 31 of Decatur was a suspect in the shooting. According to court documents Jones confessed to shooting Jackson in the front yard of a residence on Monroe Drive NW.
Investigators say in court documents that Jones confessed to killing Jamaal Jackson with an AK-47 The two had been arguing at the time of the shooting.
Jamari Jones is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Statement From Decatur Police Department:
“On January 9, 2022, at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers with the Decatur Police Department responded to the 300-block of Monroe Drive NW, in reference to a shooting.
Officers located the victim, identified as Jamaal Jackson, 41, of Decatur, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Jackson succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Through the course of the investigation, Jamari Demone Jones, 31, of Decatur, was developed as a suspect.
On January 10, 2022, Jones was arrested and charged with murder. He was transported to the Morgan County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $75,000 bond set per Circuit Judge Stephen Brown.
“The above listed defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.”
