Emma Jean Sirote, 85, of Huntsville, passed away on January 6, 2022. She was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama and grew up attending Holmes Street United Methodist Church. After graduating from Huntsville High School, she attended Huntingdon College and met the love of her life, Jerry Sirote. They married in April of 1954 and Jerry’s engineering career took them to multiple locations before settling in Huntsville.

Her love for children led to the establishment of Jean’s Nursery School which kept her fulfilled during the school year. In the summertime, she opened her backyard pool to teach swimming lessons to children, and Pee-Wee Camp was created. After teaching nursery school and swimming lessons for over twenty years, she yearned for more interaction with children and began teaching dance lessons to preschoolers.

She also had a huge heart for all animals, big and small. She loved her Irish Setters as well as all of the animals she raised on their farm in Tennessee, where she spoiled them almost as much as her grandchildren.

Her motto was , “I believe that every day is a great day, and I love life!”

She is survived by daughters, Marilyn Sirote and Evey Sirote Rouse (Randy), and son, Jerry Sirote, Jr. “Tiger” (Melanie); five grandchildren, Ashley Sirote Sabra (Yehya), Christopher Sirote (Amber), Brittany Reese Martinez (Miguel), Mason Rouse (Sara), Mitchell Rouse (Katja); and two great grandchildren, Hudson Martinez and Zeinab Sabra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Sirote; parents, Mayme Maples and Joseph Bancroft Hill; stepmother Essie Potts Hill; sister, Julia Hill Ray; and brother, Joseph Bancroft Hill, Jr.

There will be a private service.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Cancer Society.
