Corrine “Elaine” Eyer, 96, of Huntsville, AL passed away Wednesday, December 28th. She was born in Taft, CA, graduating from the University of California, Berkley. She retired from teaching at Grace Lutheran School and continued to serve the Church and school in many capacities. She was also very active in the American Association of University Women. Elaine always had outstretched arms with a welcoming spirit to all she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Lee Eyer; parents, Errol and Florence Ustick; brother, Ronald Ustick; daughters, Sharon Hendricks and Denise Eyer; and granddaughter, Caitlin Sweeney.

Survivors include children, Craig Eyer (JoJo) and Cindy Sweeney (Joe), all of Birmingham; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 14 at Grace Lutheran Church. The funeral will follow at the church with the Rev. Russ Gipson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers who lovingly gave their time in helping make Elaine’s last years enjoyable.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or School, or Caitlin Sweeney/McDaniel Memorial Fund, Hoover High School, 1000 Buccaneer Dr., Hoover, AL.
