Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Dorothy Cagle Roper, 94, a life-long resident of Madison County departed her earthly body December 29, 2021, to be eternally present with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was member of West Huntsville Baptist Church. Dorothy loved her church family, her special Sunday school friends, and she cherished her family with love and devotion.

Dorothy was preceded in death by parents, Oakley and Audie Cagle, her husband of 62 years, Lofton Roper, brothers, Eugene, Raymond and Harvey Cagle, sister, Belle Cryer and son-in-law, Jerry Thornton.

Dorothy is survived by daughters, Janis Thornton and Mona (Gary) Robinson; sister, Sarah Imogene Fail; grandchildren, Cari Henderson, Hunter (Misty) Robinson, and Molly (Charlie) Routon; great-grandchildren, Emily (Chase) Williams, Hayden Henderson, John-David Henderson, Hillary (Chet) Holmes, Clay (Andrea) Routon, Jonah Routon, Harper Henderson, and Laci Robinson; great-great-grandchildren, Kinleigh-Blake Williams, Liam Holmes, Jasper Smith, Sunnie Holmes, River Routon, Hawk Wilder Williams, and soon to be born, Baby Boy Holmes; very special cousins, nieces, nephews; and our very caring, Danny Cox.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
