William K. (Big Chief) Hairrell, Sr., age 62, of Tuscumbia, died Thursday, January 31, 2013. Visitation will be Sunday, February 3, 2012, 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Lisa Willbanks officiating. Burial will be in Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hairrell was a native of Sheffield and was a commercial fisherman. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith Hairrell; his parents, John Elbert and Ruby Pearl Hairrell Melton; his step father Woodrow Melton; sister, Lovia Brewer and brother, Lonnie Hairrell.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty three years, Jane Hairrell; sons, William Hairrell Jr., and Heath Hairrell; daughter; Heather Hester; brother, John Hairrell; sisters, Darlene King, Sheba Sharpton, Peggy Piona, Ruby “Sissy” Melton Staten, and Glenda Hairrell, twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of special nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers are Matthew Hairrell, Jeff Hairrell, Harry King, Andy Albright, Jason Hovater and Stephen Hovater.
