Vertie Ruth Adkison, 87, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Mississippi and was a homemaker.
Graveside services were Tuesday, November 23, 9 a.m. at Red Bay City Cemetery, Red Bay, AL. Burial was in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL was in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years – Jerry Adkison; three children – Larry Adkison, Cathy Cates (Doug) and Kim Jacobs; six grandchildren – Shae Lindsey (Kevin), Amber Shirley (Douglas), Tiffany Cates, Kayla Gentry (Jake) Breanna Jacobs and Abby Jacobs; twelve great-grandchildren – Jyden Ford, Anna Lindsey, Katie Gentry, Bradlee Shirley, Jalyn Kirkhoff, Aryana Neighbors, Jordyn Kirkoff, Izabella Shirley, Erinessa Neighbors, Jazzlyn Kirkhoff, Ruthie Jo Lindsey and Michaela Lindsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Cellie Hardy Jackson, a granddaughter, Heather Cates and a daughter-in-law, Trina Adkison.
