WORTHAM B. ASHCROFT (Oct. 1, 1943–Oct. 24, 2021) was as unforgettable as his name. Born and raised in South Texas, he started his career as a U.S. Marine and ended it as a successful home builder in Colorado Springs. Whether he was getting his kicks from slipping restaurant silverware into an unsuspecting person’s purse or seeing the looks on people’s faces when he gave them an unexpected gift, he brought joy to everyone who knew him. You always knew when Wortham was nearby; his booming laughter was resounding. It’s hard to imagine anyone loving life more than he did. He lived for his kids, for Claudia, for his grandkids, his friends. And he also lived for the moment. He never stopped being curious about the world. He read voraciously and traveled extensively. He loved people, and would strike up a conversation with anyone he met; he had the unique ability to find commonality with everybody. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Lawson Ashcroft, and survived by his wife, Claudia McFadden; children Ashley (Ron) Bush, Ryan, and Garrett; stepchildren Kristin (Danny), Eric, Katy (Laine) Morreau, and Steve (Kate) Sprinkel; and grandchildren Carson (Kirsten), Ellie, Marlowe, Marion, and Mac. A gathering of friend and family will take place on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4pm-6pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home 300 1st Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, (931)967-2222
