100-Year-Old St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church In Somerville Sustained Thousands Of Dollars In Vandalism

SOMERVILLE-On Sunday 100-year-old St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church was the victim of thousands of dollars in vandalism. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has released sa statement concerning the arrest of four juvenile suspects:

“On Saturday, October 16, 2021, Deputies and Investigators responded to a call at St John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Somerville. Sometime in the prior week the church was broken into and sustained thousands of dollars of damage.

Investigators have identified 4 juvenile subjects in relation to the vandalism at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Somerville with more expected.
The four include
1- 11 year old female
1- 13 year old female
2- 14 year old males
The individuals are facing Burglary and Criminal Mischief charges.

Sheriff Ron Puckett met with some of the members of St. John Missionary Baptist Church today. The church is grateful for the outpouring of support from the community. They are currently waiting for the insurance adjustor to come and look at the church. Once that happens they will be ready to begin the cleanup. Sheriff Puckett’s goal is to have them worshipping in their church this coming Sunday.
