Ray Haden Smith, 89, of the Rainbow Crossing community died on October 4th, 2021.
Mr. Smith was born March 11, 1932 to the late Garland David and Della Mae Smith.
Ray Haden was a man of many hats from cattle farmer to manager on Redstone Arsenal. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends while sharing mostly true, but always funny, stories. He was a mentor to many young farmers in the area. He was most proud of his role of “Pop” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Jean Smith, two daughters: Karen and Jeanean Smith, two granddaughters: Shea (Stephen) Beard and Holli Rae (Jesse) Shelton, and four great-grandchildren: James Haden and Della Mae Beard, Raelee Grace and Fisher Thomas Shelton.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary, his parents, his brother Garland David, Jr. and sister, Wilma Miller Slaton.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Rock Springs United Methodist Church, 1904 County Hwy 6, Blountsville, AL, 35031. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
