James “Jim” Ralph West of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on August 10, 2021, in the arms of his family. He was born in Long Beach, California, on January 29, 1945, to the late Ralph and Louella West. Jim grew up in Odessa, Texas, and though he moved to Georgia in 1969, considered himself a Texan through and through. Jim leaves a legacy of loyalty, steadiness, an unmatched work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his wife and children.
Jim was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, Tennessee, where he and Donna lived for ten years after retiring from Atlanta, Georgia, prior to moving to Huntsville in 2020, to be closer to family.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Sand West; son, James (Ellen) West; daughter, Lacey (Jesse) Guthrie; and six grandchildren, Annabelle, Charlotte, and Amelia Guthrie; and Selma, Hansen, and Dorothy West.
The family wishes to deeply thank the providers, staff, and caregivers of the Clearview Cancer Institute in Huntsville, for not only their incredible medical care, but also their love and emotional support and encouragement.
A Celebration of Life, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall, will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville, Tennessee.
