Billy “Mac” McFadden, 90, of Huntsville died Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was born to the late Bruce S. McFadden and Mildred Haynes McFadden. He was one of nine children, all but one who preceded him in death.
Mac was a 21-year US Army veteran who served in the Korean conflict and numerous overseas and stateside deployments. After his retirement from the military, he worked for Stockton Motors then operated his own wrecker service. Not being one to sit still, he worked for the State of Alabama Highway Department for 10 years.
Everyone who knew Mac knows he liked to work on anything mechanical, and work in his garden raising tomatoes and vegetables that he could share with friends and neighbors.
Mac was preceded in death by his two daughters, Maryann McFadden and Diane McFadden Osborn. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Peggy Brown McFadden; daughter, Debbie Miller (John) of Huntsville; son, Billy Joe McFadden (Nancy) of Frankewing, TN; grandchildren, Brandy Holland (Ray), Stephanie Howard, and Michael Osborn (Amanda); eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday, August 9th at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Bro. Scotty Travis officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
