Michael "Mike" ProperMichael (Mike) Thomas Proper, age 73, of Anniston, Alabama, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 5, 2021. Mike was born on July 13, 1947, in Vermont to the late Horace and Elaner Proper. He joined the U.S. Army, where he served his country in Vietnam. Mike retired from the Army with an honorable discharge as a Sergeant 1st Class of the 86th Evac Hospital. Mike worked several years at Anniston Army Depot before retiring. He spent his retirement subbing for local schools. Mike was a huge Alabama football fan and you would always hear him say, “Roll Tide!” He was also known to perform a few magic tricks for friends and family. Mike was a member of Anniston Bible Church.
Mike is survived by, Susan Proper, his wife of 39 years filled with lots of memories to include playing bingo, watching Alabama football, and riding motorcycles. He also leaves behind 4 children: Mark Proper (Michelle), Chris Proper (Tracy), Brandi Hodgins (Jeremiah), Jessica Barksdale (Keith), 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is survived several brothers and sisters along with many nieces and nephews. A military ceremony will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Saturday at 11 a.m., and a celebration of his life will follow at Anniston Bible Church at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations, in his memory, to be mailed to Anniston Bible Church, 3230 Coleman Rd, Anniston, AL 36207.
