Ellie Sue Estes  Ellie Sue Estes of Huntsville, 90, passed away Monday, June 28. Ellie was born in Blount County, Alabama and graduated from J.B. Pennington High School. She received her nursing degree from South Highlands in Birmingham, AL.

Following marriage, she moved to Calhoun County near Piedmont, Alabama where she worked and raised a family. She was a registered nurse at Piedmont Hospital and the Director of Nurses at Cherokee County Nursing Home for over 20 years where she retired in 1992. She spent the last 25 years in Huntsville to be near her two sons, grandchildren, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Estes, sister, Pansy Hollis, twin sister, Betty Lou Weaver and brother, Clyde Weaver. She is survived by her brother Max (Gail) Weaver; children, Maury (Sue) Estes, Inlet Beach, FL, Mark Estes, Huntsville, AL, Lynn Hodges, Dallas, TX, and Ken Estes, Johnson City, TN; granddaughters, Cara Estes, Rachel Estes, Emily Estes, Ashley Hayes, Hyatt Hodges, Laura Hodges, and Caroline Tighe; grandsons, Ben Estes, and Gentry Estes; and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at Shady Grove Congregational Methodist Church near Piedmont, AL on July 1 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Parkinson’s Association or the Redstone Village Benevolent Society.
