Mrs. Lura Lee Swanner Andrews, age 92, of Athens, AL went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 14, 2021. Mrs. Andrews was born on September 9, 1928 in Limestone County to Eugene Lee Swanner and Hattie Lee Edwards Swanner. She was born and raised in the Elkmont area and was the only graduate in the class of 1947 at Elkmont High School. Mrs. Andrews spent her life serving others and most importantly, serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She worshipped faithfully for many years at Elkwood Baptist Church and then at Mays Memorial Baptist Church for the last 50 years. She was a dedicated choir member, Vacation Bible School worker and teacher of the senior ladies Sunday School class for over 30 years until the age of 90.

Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Collie Spence Andrews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Swanner and four sisters, Clara Taylor, Irene Tyler, Addie B. Tyler and Delia Nave Mann.

She is survived by two daughters, Ramonia Cagle of Ardmore and Carol Harris & husband Trevor of Athens; three grandchildren: Amanda Shaw and husband Marco of Ardmore, Drew Cagle and wife Gina of Athens and Seth Harris of Athens; three great-grandchildren: Steven Collin Shaw, Levi Roger Shaw and Lynlee Marie Cagle; her brother: Buford Swanner and wife Bernice of Athens and a host of nieces, nephews and church family.

Visitation will be held from 12:30pm to 1:30pm,  Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with a graveside service immediately following at 2PM at Antioch Cemetery in Elkmont, Alabama. Marco Shaw and Joe Nave will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Trevor Harris, Drew Cagle, Seth Harris, Marco Shaw, Deverl Nave & Joe Nave. Collin Shaw and Levi Shaw will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gideons International or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
