James William Todd, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, June 13th, 2021 at home surrounded by family. Mr. Todd was born January 5th, 1932 in Huntsville, AL to Jacob Addrick Todd and Mildred Florence Cotton.
Affectionally known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren, Mr. Todd was a graduate of Auburn University. He was a teacher for 28 years with the majority of his career with Athens City Schools. He was a lifelong Episcopalian and loved being actively involved in his grandchildren’s lives.
Mr. Todd is survived by his daughter Rachel Todd Vought (Lee); son James Todd; grandchildren Christopher Vought, Laura Leigh Vought (Shawn), and Emily Ann Vought; sister Marianne Todd Porter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his wife, Doris Gilbert Todd; his parents; sister Norma Todd Ingalls; and brother Buddy Todd.
Graveside service for Mr. Todd will be Thursday, June 17th, 2021 at 11:00am at Maple Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Miriam Smith officiating.
