THE SHOALS-Colbert County Tourism has announced upcoming events for the Shoals area from June 12th through Labor Day on September 6:

June 12-July 17, 2021 (excluding July 3) – Summer Saturdays Enjoy kid-friendly art activities

Tennessee Valley Art Museum is offering free admission this year to education,
healthcare, and first responder workers as part of our Arts for the Frontline program.

June 11-July 17 (Fri & Sat, only) – Gates 7pm/Show 8 pm – Miracle Worker play, outdoor
theater on the grounds of Ivy Green, Helen Keller Birthplace. Reserved & general admission

June 12, 2021 – Jimmy Hughes Day, Downtown Leighton. Honoring Leighton native rhythm & blues singer, Jimmy Hughes, who is best known for his hit “Steal Away” and his contributions to the success of the music industry in the Muscle Shoals area. Farmer’s Market 7am-12 noon, Leighton Museum open 10am-5pm, Kids Area, art & food. Music will begin at noon, with tribute to Jimmy Hughes at 6pm. The Midnighters will perform at 7pm. June 19, 2021 – Kids Fishing Rodeo, 9-11am—Riverfront Park, Sheffield. Free to children 12
and younger; lunch provided for kids. Must be accompanied by an adult and provide own
fishing tackle. It is held in conjunction with the adult KingKat Fishing Tournament held that

June 20, 2021 – A Tribute to Edsel & Edd, Norton Auditorium, Florence. Big band benefit con-
cert featuring Broadway, gospel, swing, Dixieland, Motown music & more. Info & tickets: 256-383-0783

June 24-27 – (Thurs, Fri, Sat) – Helen Keller Festival, Tuscumbia. Parade and music downtown
on Thursday evening with local artists; concerts in Spring Park on Friday & Saturday,
featuring Kerry Gilbert Band and Lindsay Ell. Info: jebner613@comast.net

June 24-26, 2021 – Art of the Dish at Belle Mont. Antique & vintage china tablescapes are
set throughout the museum. Tour is included with the exhibit. Lunch and special

July 15-17— (Thurs, Fri, Sat) – 25th Annual Saddle Up for St. Jude, Gardiner Farm, Tuscumbia.
Hundreds of acres of trail riding, camping, live auction, vendors, concessions. Concert

July 31, 2021—W.C. Handy Top Artist Showcase & Celebrity Concert -a full day of concerts,
shopping with vendors, kid’s activities, car, jeep, and motorcycle contests, and more held
at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. A Portion of the proceeds from this event will support
community outreaches sponsored by Distinguished Productions.

July 22 – 31, 2021 – The Last 5 Years (TVAA’s annual SummerStock musical at the Ritz
Theatre, Sheffield) is a beautifully heartbreaking and uniquely told story of love and loss. This
intimate musical invites audiences to take a tour through a five-year relationship, take stock

September 6, 2021—Shoals Area Labor Day Festival, Spring Park, Tuscumbia. The Shoals
Labor Council’s annual celebration at Spring Park in Tuscumbia begins at begins at 10 am
with a parade along Main Street followed by activities in Spring Park.

September 6, 2021— The Coon Dog Labor Day Celebration, 4945 Coondog Cemetery Rd,
Cherokee. A unique festival featuring old timey bluegrass music, buck dancing, a liar’s
contest, and catered by nearby Bishop’s Barbeque. Info: 256-324-1122
