Martha Elizabeth Blackburn Gezley, age 81, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Josh Morgan, Paul Schmucker, Mag Mikhail and Mac Wright serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10am until the hour of service at 2pm.
Mrs. Gezley was born December 19, 1939 in Springfield to the late James Everette and Martha Lee Somerville Blackburn. She worked as a cashier at Bill Martin’s Food Store.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Gezley is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman L. Gezley, her daughter, Penny Charlene Carlisle, and her sister, Evon Gregory.
Mrs. Gezley is survived by her son, Carl Wendell Gezley of Springfield; daughter, Sharon Renee Schmucker of Greenbrier; brothers, Earl Ray Blackburn of KY, James Blackburn of Portland, Johnny Blackburn of Portland; sisters, Edna Carter of Springfield, Beverly Blackburn of Portland, June Dishman of Paris, TN and Jean Hendricks of Portland; grandchildren, Karla Gezley, Joshua Morgan, Paul Schmucker, Michelle Mikhail and Mac Wright; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
