Walter Joe Evans, age 69 of Cowan, passed away on Friday. April 23, 2021 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems following an extended illness. He was born in Alabama on March 18, 1952 to the late Clemon and Vessie Evans. Before his retirement, he was employed at Worth Bats in Tullahoma. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Vanessa Evans; brother, Jerry Isbell; and sisters-in-law, Frances Evans and Virginia Evans. He is survived by his loving wife, Chrita Evans of Cowan; sons, Gene (Renea) Guffey of Winchester, Bobby (Gina) Guffey of Decherd, and Shane (Hollie) Guffey of Lincoln County; brothers, James (Jean) Evans of Spencer, Mack (Ina) Evans of Cowan, Tommy (Mary) Evans of McMinnville, Timmy (Debbie) Evans of Cowan, Glenn (Wendy) Isbell of Cowan, and Charles (Shirley) Isbell of Lansing, Illinois; sisters, Hazel (Mose) Gass of Cowan, Joyce (William) Brown of Cowan, Judy Alexander of Cowan, and Lois Berryhill of Winchester; eight grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be from 1-4 pm on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
