William L. “Bill” Askew, Jr. 73, Helena, AL, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021. Visitation will be Thursday, April 22, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield. Bill’s son-in-law, Tony Lee, will officiate.
Bill was a veteran of the US Army and the Alabama National Guard. He was graduate of Sheffield High School, Class of 1965, and attended the University of Alabama. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Dorice Askew; father, William L. Askew, Sr.; and brother, Michael Dennis Askew.
Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Pat Thomas Askew; children, Rebecca Askew and Brian Askew; step-children, Paula Thomas Lee (Tony) and Angela Thomas; grandchildren, Mary Oakley Askew and Madeline Askew; step-grandchildren, Jessica White (Jacob), Blake Young (Taylor), and Savannah Shedd; and great-granddaughter, Elanor White.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
