Charles Chapman

Charles Chapman was a father, husband, son, teacher, advisor, and a world traveler. To each of these he gave his heart and soul. He was so proud of Sarah and cherished every moment they were able to spend together. He was a thoughtful husband from financial planning, to travel planning, to vacuuming the floor, to cleaning the car windows, and too many more. He was kind and generous.

He was a grateful son who fondly remembered his time in New Orleans growing up with his adopted family. He appreciated the family who embraced him and shaped his life.
He really enjoyed his time as a teacher and advisor to many students. He always loved seeing students return to visit and tell him about what they were doing and how their lives were progressing. He took his professional responsibilities so seriously knowing how his advising would effect each student he saw.

He was a great traveling companion, always ready for the next adventure. During the past nine years, he and Gloria traveled the globe, visiting many European countries, Iceland, Greenland, Australia, South America, and many more. Visiting Machu Picchu was one of their favorite places.

He so enjoyed conversations. He loved learning about others and hearing interesting stories about people’s lives.

Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gloria Chapman, and several extended family members.

Preceded in death by his father, and one daughter, Sarah Chapman.

Graveside service for Mr. Chapman will be Thursday, February 25th, 2021 at 11:00am at Roselawn Cemetery, with Doug Fields officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Athens Limestone Public Library.
