John Edward Morgan, 83 of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Saturday, February 20th, 2021 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Morgan was born on December 13, 1937 to Everett Edward Morgan and Johnnie Shaffer Morgan.
Mr. Morgan is survived by his son John Kyle Morgan of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter Kristin Elaine Morgan-Tracy of Albuquerque, NM; sister Jane McEwan of Mesa, AZ; grandson John Winston Morgan of Fairfax, VA; granddaughters Kiersten Marie Morgan of Madison, SD, and Emily Minh Morgan-Tracy of Albuquerque, NM; and great granddaughter Ainsley Webber of Madison, SD.
Memorial services for Mr. Morgan will be Thursday, February 25th, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Church of Christ, with Odis Duncan officiating.
Mr. Morgan was born in Knoxville, TN. He graduated from Bearden High School where he was captain of the football team. He served in the USAF in Columbus, MS from 1958-1962. He attended Mississippi State University where he also played football. He was the athletic director and then director of YMCAs in Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Florida. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Mt. Carmel Church of Christ or Hospice of Limestone County.
