Richard Brents Mathis, age 66 of Decherd, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. He was born in Nashville on September 26, 1954. Richard served in the United States Army and was a member of the Church of Christ. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, Tennessee Volunteers, and NASCAR. He also was a talented artist. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Brents Mathis; and brothers, Charles Brooks Parker, Ronald Harrison Parker, and David Michael Parker. He is survived by his mother, Ella Fair Mathis; siblings, Terry Ray Parker, Helen Parker Davis, and Judy Parker Caldwell; and special aunt, Lucille Hunnicutt. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Winchester Christian Academy or Alive Hospice.
