Mary Jean Peyton Diehl, 90, passed away Wednesday. Mary Jean was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John E. Diehl. A school nurse in Huntsville City Schools for 25 years, she worked to help children and families.
She is survived by sisters, Ruth Caruthers and Ernestine Hawkins; brother, David Peyton; children, Jilda Garton (David), Joan Anderson (Leslie), Lynn Dudley (Robert), John Diehl (Lori); eight grandchildren, Kristin Crichton (Michael), Michael Anderson (Julie), Amanda Garton, Mitchell Anderson (Laura), Joseph Garton (Emily), Robert Dudley, III (Julianne), Julian Diehl, Zoe Diehl; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Laughlin Service Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday June 8, with a graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. at Eastern Star Cemetery in Sewanee, TN.
