Surrounded by family and friends, Paul Wayne Clem, age 85, of Athens, Alabama passed away Monday April 20, 2020.
Paul was born April 18, 1935 in Elkmont to Eddie and Eva Phillips Clem. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Athens and served as a deacon. He was proud to be a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, AM VETS and a lifetime member of the VFW. Paul served on the Limestone Veteran Burial Detail for over 18 years. During his career as a design engineer, Paul worked on contracts for NASA, with Brown Engineering and retired from USBI, a division of the United Technology.
Paul was preceded in death by wife, Beatrice Durham Clem, his parents, Eddie and Eva Clem, his stepmother, Birdie Jones Clem and his brother, Edward Clem.
He is survived by his daughters, Melanie (Tommy) Maples of Elkmont and Melissa (Joe) Randolph of Lucas, Texas. His grandchildren, Ben and Heather Maples, Josh and McKinzie Maples, Will Maples and fiance’ Chellie Hogan, Sara and Evan Bell, Joseph and Allison Randolph, Megan and Nick Beckman and Jessica Randolph. His great-grandchildren, Jane Ava Maples, Lydia Bea Maples, Emily Kate Maples and Jack Maples and his dear friend Sheila Clark.
Although we will miss him dearly as a Father, Grnadpa and Friend his spirits lives on through each life he inspired, He had a huge heart, loved to travel and enjoyed time with his family and friends.
A graveside service for the immediate family will be held at the Athens City Cemetery, with Spry Funeral Home arranging the service.
In remembrance of Paul’s service, memorial contributions may be made to the Limestone County Veterans Burial Detail or Hospice of Limestone County
