Mrs. Dorothy Chumney, age 90, passed away late Thursday in Lexington. She was born October 7, 1929 in Henderson County to the late Sam and Esther Fesmire McDaniel. She was a retired employee of Johnson Controls, a business owner, and a Fundamental Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John R. Chumney; one son, Johnny Raymond Chumney; one daughter, Reba Ann McBride; 11 brothers, and 2 sisters. Survivors include her son, James Ray Chumney (Tammie); two daughters, Mary Sue Brown (Donnie) and Lawanda Taylor (Wallace); nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Private, family only graveside services for Mrs. Chumney will be Saturday at Henderson County Memory Gardens. Because of the Covid-19 concerns, and respecting the 10 or less group size, for the safety of everyone’s family there will be no visitation or services at Pafford Funeral Home.
