Fred McLaurine, 86, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning. Fred was born in Clio, AL and grew up in Union Springs, AL. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1955 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Fred met his late wife, Judy, while she was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. They married in 1961 and moved to Huntsville where he started his aerospace career. He served 25 years in civilian service for the US Army Missile Command leading the Project Management team for the Stinger Missile Project. Later in life, he started a second career as a real estate agent.
Fred loved to travel and enjoyed numerous European trips with close friends. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved all chocolate candy. He had a very outgoing personality and always had a smile on his face. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years and served many of those as a church usher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy and daughter, Melissa Frager. Survivors include daughter, Mary Nell Mclaurine of Alpharetta, GA; son, John McLaurine; and granddaughters, Courtney Frager and Erica Frager of Plano, TX.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 15 at First United Methodist Church in the sanctuary followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
