Fred Sims Stucky, Jr, 85, passed away Friday. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama on November 23, 1934.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Earlene Hammonds Stucky; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sims Stucky (Margaret Nickel); and sister, Mary Ann Stucky Garrison.
Fred is survived by his wife, Shirley Hale Stucky; his sons, Mark Ray Stucky (Linda Horning), Fred Sims Stucky III (Amy Titus) and James Robert Stucky (Amy Haugen); and grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Stucky, David Ray Stucky (Alexandra Tandy), Lowrey Hammonds Stucky, Caroline Coleman Stucky, Robert Daniel Stucky, Margaret Manning Stucky, Sarah Victoria Stucky and Grace Sims Stucky.
Fred attended Edgewood School in Birmingham and spent three years at Stark Military Academy in Montgomery before graduating from Shades Valley High School in 1952. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute, graduating in the spring of 1957 with a business degree. He had a long career with Glidden and was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, elder and trustee. He enjoyed talking, golfing, reading and spending time with his family. He stayed busy in retirement volunteering with Huntsville Hospital and Hospice Family Care. He was truly loved by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Alabama at 2 p.m. with visitation to follow in the Gideon Blackburn House.
