Carl Monroe McCranieCarl Monroe McCranie, 94, of Huntsville passed away Friday. Born in Ocala, Florida, Mr. McCranie graduated from Bay County High School, in Panama City, Florida and went on to join the US Navy during World War II. He received his bachelor’s degree in Education from Florida State University and then completed his master’s degree in Business Administration from Alabama A&M University. He retired from Army Missile Command after over 40 years of service. Mr. McCranie was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife, Marie Hurst McCranie; children, George McCranie (Beverly), Daniel McCranie (Melody), and Cheryl McCranie Mathis; grandchildren, Scott McCranie, Julie McCranie, Stacey Mei, Gena Gyengo, Katie Stephens, and Kelly McCranie; and five great grandchildren. Mr. McCranie was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian McCranie, and his grandson, Matthew McCranie.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The service will immediately follow in the chapel with the Rev. Emerson Lyle officiating. The burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
