Paula Huffman McMinn, affectionately known as “Ginger”, passed away at her home on December 10, 2019, at the age of 80. She was a Cullman native and had lived at her current residence for over 45 years.
She had retired from the United States Postal Service after almost 25 years of service as a rural postal carrier. She had such great bonds with all that she served on her route but especially the women she worked with.
She found her true happiness in her family. She was a loving wife to her departed soul mate, George McMinn, whom she first started dating when they were in the seventh grade. After they both retired, the couple loved spending time with their grandkids at the ball parks and at the beach in Perdido Key. She was an avid “Bearcat” fan watching her sons and grandsons playing football, baseball, and track for Cullman High School. She even liked the Spartans, too, traveling to Birmingham to enjoy softball and football games.
The matriach of the McMinn’s will truly be missed. She had such a great lust for life, her sense of humor and loving ways to her family and friends are an example of what a great life really is. She was quoted at Thanksgiving saying, “What more could this old Gal want….I have seen and done it all.”
She is survived by her sons, Kip and Shane McMinn; her daughter-in-laws, Suzette and Renee McMinn; her grandchildren, Luke and wife, Jayden, Ethan, Katherine Grace, Paul and Kamp McMinn; and her great-grandchildren, Easton and Rydge McMinn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. George Franklin McMinn; parents, Paul and Lillian Huffman; and a host of family and friends.
May her memory be eternal.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, 255 County Road 1435, from 10:00-12:00, followed by a funeral service at noon. Graveside service immediately following at Simcoe Methodist Church.
