Funeral Services for Mr. Herbert L. Butler, age 88 of Lineville, will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 11:00 AM with Bro. Robert Lee and Bro. David Rozelle officiating. Burial will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens
Mr. Butler married Ava Pearl “Tommy” Bailey on October 12, 1956, and after 63 years of marriage the couple passed away within hours of each other at their home on December 2, 2019. He was born in Randolph County, but lived most of his life in Clay County. Mr. Butler served his country for 8 years in the United States Army, then worked for several years as a truck driver and retired from Higgins Manufacturing after several years. He was a member of Liberty Church of Christ and loved to working in the Garden and mowing grass.
He is survived his daughter, Jan B. White of Lineville; one granddaughter, Minda Campbell (Donald); two great-grandchildren: Elijah and Emmalyn Campbell; several cousins and his beloved dog, Idgjie.
Shortly after his death, his wife Ava P. “Tommie” Butler passed away, and is also preceded in death his parents: Idus J. Butler and Inez Thomaston Butler.
Active Pallbearers will be: Donald Campbell, Elijah Campbell, Marlin Childs, Paul Hodge, Rob Lee, Justin Summerlin, Johnny Snow, Wendell White, and Eddie Minton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Southern Care Hospice Staff.
The visitation will be at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 5:30-8PM and up until service time at 11:00AM.
