Ava P. "Tommie" Butler Funeral Services for Mrs. Ava P. “Tommie” Butler, age 92 of Lineville, will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 11:00 AM with Bro. Robert Lee and

Bro. David Rozelle officiating. Burial will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Butler married Herbert Butler on October 12, 1956, and after 63 years of marriage the couple passed away within hours of each other at their home on December 2, 2019. She was born in Randolph County, but lived most of her life in Clay County, where she loved to garden and cut grass with her husband. Before her retirement Mrs. Butler was a seamstress at Higgins Manufacturing for over 25 years and was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan B. White of Lineville; one granddaughter, Minda Campbell (Donald) of Lineville; two great-grandchildren: Elijah and Emmalyn Campbell; eight nieces, one nephew, and her beloved dog, Idgjie.

She is preceded in death only a few hours by her husband, Herbert Butler. She is also preceded in death by her parents: Jones H. Bailey and Vida Wilson; 2 sisters, Lula Mae Brown and Betty Messer, and one brother, Hoyt Bailey.

Pallbearers will be: Donald Campbell, Elijah Campbell, Marlin Childs, Paul Hodge, Rob Lee, Justin Summerlin, Johnny Snow, Wendell White, and Eddie Minton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Southern Care Hospice Staff.

The visitation will take place at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 5:30-8 PM and up until service time at 11:00 AM.
