Pat was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church where she volunteered and served weekly at the information desk and yearly at VBS and A Night to Shine. Pat enjoyed being a part of the CBC Seniors Ministry and her Friendship Sunday School Class. Pat loved Jesus, loved people, and loved to travel and she fulfilled all these loves as she served in her community with her church, with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team all across America, and with Romanian American Missions in Spain. Pat was a woman filled with life and laughter and she never met a stranger. She was a woman full of creativity and she lived this out through painting, cake decorating, and whatever her latest craft making endeavor. However, nicknamed “the Spoiler” by her granddaughters, everyone knew that her eyes shined the most whenever she talked about any of her granddaughters! They were indeed her greatest delights. Pat was known by her family and friends as someone who was always ready for the next great adventure and she is now experiencing the greatest adventure of all in the arms of Jesus. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Whitsell, and her daughter, Phillis Nelson.

Pat is survived by her son, Patrick Vaughn (Nicole), her three granddaughters, Ashleigh Streeter (Matt), Shelby Vaughn, Rebekah Vaughn, by her great granddaughter, Lucille Streeter, and by her sister Myra Phillips (Felix).

Allan Jones, Wayne Bates, Matt Streeter, Stan Nelson, Felix Phillips and Patrick Vaughn will serve as pallbearers.
