The Funeral Service for John Michael “Mike” Hovis, 68, of Toney, AL will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2 P.M. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Bruce Craig officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 12-2 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mike passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2019 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 9, 1951 in Limestone County, AL to George and Telker Mae Hovis.
Mike was a jack of all trades. He had a passion to do woodwork. Mike was an avid Alabama fan. He loved farming and farmed with his family in his early years. After which, he worked for coca cola plant for 29 years. Mike was very special to some, he wasn’t just an uncle, more like a father, and grandfather to a special great nephew Colton aka (Colkey). Boy could they talk tractors, rode on golf cart on the farmland, and made many many unforgettable memories. He was a member of Reunion Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers Edward, Wayne, Bill, June, and Jess Hovis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Sherry Hovis, one brother Donnie Hovis, two sisters Evelyn Marbut, and Rocine McWhirter, 17 nieces and 13 nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and many more friends.
