Gary Scott Thompson passed away at home on June 18, 2019 at the age of 48. Scott is survived by his parents, Carla and Don Thompson, his sister, Tracey Clark, his nephew, Ryan Clark, his uncles, John Berry and Max Thompson, his aunt, Susan Stricklin and her husband, Steve, and cousins, Valarie Brown, Max Thompson Jr., Shelby Jayne Stricklin, Jenny Stricklin Mahan, and Jeff Stricklin, and other extended family.
Scott graduated from Huntsville High School in 1989 where he lettered in baseball, soccer, and wrestling. He was listed in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” in the school year 1987-88. He attended The University of North Alabama where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, also known as FIJI.
Scott had many interests throughout his life. He especially enjoyed playing golf with his Dad, and his best friend Clark Williams. He also remained close with many other friends, old and new, and the family has been touched by the messages of love and remembrance from these wonderful people.
His beloved dog Bella Mae died as a result of liver failure the day after he passed away. Both were cremated and their ashes will be scattered together in a private memorial.
