Our precious mother, Dewey Odell, passed away Saturday June 15, 2019 at Limestone Health Facility. She was born October 17, 1921 in Lawrence County, Alabama near Town Creek on her parents farm. She was preceded in death by husband of 51 years, Mardie H. Odell; her parents, Pink and Easter Smith and 12 brothers and sisters.
Dewey loved children and worked with preschoolers for more than 50 years at West Huntsville Baptist Church and Wall Highway Baptist Church. She loved homemaking, sewing, gardening and supplied many plants to Huntsville Botanical Garden and fresh vegetables to neighbors, friends and relatives. She retired from J C Penney after 25 years.
Survivors include daughter, Carolyn Hall and husband Henry of Belle Rive IL and son, Kenneth Odell and wife Tonya of Athens AL, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Wall Highway Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
