Margie Sue Harrell Pounders, 94, went Home to be with the Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, 2019. She was born in Itawamba County, MS to Joe and Mich Cantrell Harrell.  Margie was a member of the Bounds Homemaker’s Club and a devoted member and long-time Sunday School teacher at Providence Baptist Church.  She retired after teaching at Banner and then Red Bay for more than thirty years.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and cooking.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 18, at 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Elvis Carter and Bro. Joshua Hopkins officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Tremont, MS.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her son-Gayre Pounders and wife Pat Barnett Pounders of Tremont; two granddaughters-Amy Emerson and husband Dwain of Hamilton, AL and Audrey Wylie and husband Lee of Saltillo; three great-grandchildren-Drew Emerson, Kayden Wylie and Vada Wylie and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband of almost 77 years, Leon Pounders; her brothers-Morris, Murvin and Underwood Harrell and her sisters-Lennice Chism (Bascom), Michel Alverson (Bill) and Enola Pounders (Travis).

Pallbearers will be Dwain Emerson, Lee Wylie, Drew Emerson, Terry Harrell, Johnnie Weatherford and Lee Page.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 18, 11-1 at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Providence Baptist Church.
