Funeral service for Sandra (Ayers) Whitaker Gewin, age 77, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 3:00 p.m., at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Ingouf officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Gewin, who died Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born August 16, 1941, in Birmingham to Herman Hoyt Ayers and Carrie Lee Gates Ayers. She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Cockrell, her husband, Sam Gewin, and her parents.
She is survived by one son, Michael Shane Cockrell (Christy) of Navarre, FL; one daughter, Sabrina Cockrell of Decatur; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
