David Hovater Burcham, age 76, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Tuscumbia with Dr. Rudy Guess officiating. He will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
David was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia and worked as an Engineer Associate at TVA for 34 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army Reserve serving during the Vietnam era, totaling 27 years of service to his country. He was a member of the American Legion Colorguard post #31. David graduated from Deshler High School with the class of 1960, where he was voted most dependable by his classmates. He graduated from Florence State (U.N.A.) with a Degree in Art and Business Administration. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walston H. and Cassandra Penrod Burcham.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Meadows Burcham; children, Matt Burcham (Stacie) of Muscle Shoals, Jon Burcham of Lakeland, FL, and his honorary daughter, Cindy Harbor of Palm Coast, FL; brother, Roger Burcham (Dot) of Danville; grandchildren, Lauren Burcham, Todd Burcham and Jackson Burcham; honorary grandchildren, Justin Harbor and Zack Harbor; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Tuscumbia First United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Howard Burcham, Chris Burcham, Tyler Burcham, Jeff Michael, Ricky Meadows and Dale Fleming.
