Robert Dale Newman, age 76, passed from this life on Monday, April 15, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Emma Faye Newman and his brother, Earl Newman.
Dale was born in Walker County, Alabama, January 8, 1943. He moved to Sheffield with his family in 1954 and had lived in Florence for more than 30 years.
Dale was well-liked by his co-workers and was always generous. His family and neighbors benefited from his wonderful cooking skills because he always cooked enough to share. At one time he owned a restaurant in Gulf Shores which he loved. He loved gardening and his yard was always beautiful. Dale was an Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War years. He was stationed in Germany for two years.
Survivors are his sister, Zelda N. Jackson and brother, Mark Newman and also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, with Bart Bowlin officiating.
