Alice “Alleyne” Dhority Collins, age 80, of Tuscumbia, went to be with Jesus, Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Hospice Family Care, Huntsville, from complications related to a traumatic head injury, received in a fall. There will be a graveside service for Alleyne on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Cemetery with Steve Hargrove and Dwight Wilson officiating.
Alleyne was a lifetime resident of Tuscumbia. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church for most of her life and most recently Parkview Baptist Church. Alleyne loved Southern Gospel, country music, crocheting, and both feeding and raising bluebirds in her backyard.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lula Mae Dhority; infant daughter, Tammy Anita Collins; brother-in-law, Charles Gargis.
Alleyne is survived by her daughter, Connie and son-in-law, Jerry Allen and her granddaughter, Jeryn Sheree, all of Roswell GA; sister, Pauline Gargis; nephew and wife, Randy and Patricia Gargis; great-nieces, Brittany Gargis and Chelsea Kennedy and husband, Huston and their son, Grant; special cousins, Peggy Laster, Brenda Willis and Helen Hutto; her special friend, Neal Bishop; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Roger Moore, Randy Gargis, Larry James, Huston Kennedy, Andy Laster and Jonathan Moore.
The family would like to thank Alleyne’s very special niece, Patricia Gargis, for her constant kindness and help; Dr. Brad McAnalley and Nurse Melina Borden for their years of care; the doctors and staff at NICU Huntsville Hospital for their attentive care; and to Nurse Charlotte Smith at Family Hospice Care for her compassion and tender care.
